Salons v Clinic Procedures

It can sometimes be quite deceiving when you read about a treatment you may be thinking of getting. Let's take teeth whiting as an example. You could see it in one place for $50 and another place for $500.

The reason for the big difference in price would probably be this - one would be from a salon (or similar) the other would be from a clinic.

While the treatment from a salon can still be effective, and work very well, it's not the same as clinical treatment.

If you got teeth whitening from a clinic you would expect it to be performed by a dentist, using specialist equipment, and perhaps even get given various aftercare equipment after the initial whitening.

This is why the price difference is so big. It's so important to know what you're getting with each type of treatment.

Which one you get depends on a number of factors. Such as your budget, how much work you need doing (if you need serious work doing then a clinic should be better), and the kind of results you're after.

Just keep in mind, two treatments are rarely the same!

It's essential to research yourself, maybe have a look at a site like realself.

Get To Know The Place You"re Getting Treated

You may not think it's a big deal if you just walk into a salon for a simple treatment like a manicure or wax. Unfortunately they may be a bigger deal than you think.

It's actually really easy to get infections even for these simple treatments. Especially if proper hygiene procedures aren't followed. From my experience it's absolutely crazy the amount of people who work in salons and don't think about staying clean.

Some people just don't think about it.

But it's common sense isn't it? Just because a salon may not be performing procedures in the same why that a clinic does is no excuse.

In a way that is the problem with certain salons - that hint of unprofessionalism which gives others salons a bad name.

So if you're looking to get a treatment, and want to make a certain salon your "regular". You should look for these things:

  • The place doesn't need to be 100% spotless but it should be very clean indeed.
  • You can tell alot from just looking at the outside of the salon. It's a good indication of what it's like inside.
  • Look for signs & notices inside informing the employees about hygiene. (Make sure they are following rules like the ones here for example.)
  • Make sure the equipment looks clean and well washed.
  • If you're about to get a treatment (such as waxing or a manicure) and the apparatus looks like it has been used earlier in the day - run away! That place is not clean.

The Salon Queen

This little blog is about everything you want to know about salon treatments. Y'see I work in a salon, and have done for about 10 years. So I'm hoping my experience can be useful. Let's face it, there are so many treatments available and it can get a little bit confusing.

So hopefully I'll look a bit at the treatments on offer and provide you with some general tips and advice on salon based treatments. Many people don't put any thought into where they're getting their treatments. Not compared to where they get serious treatments (like treatments from a clinic). But I think it's just as important. Not just for your health, but for how good your treatment looks.

Unfortunately there are some really bad salons out there. People who have thought "oh I love all things to do with beauty... I think ill start my own beauty business!" Unfortunately a lot of these people lack proper training. Just because you like make up doesn't make you an expert in all things beauty.

Ill welcome any questions while I'm writing my first posts. Just leave a comment :)

TY for reading.
